Dr. Pepper Wings
Dr. Pepper is delicious, no ifs, ands, or buts. It doesn’t matter who you are. If you’re a human being, you probably love Dr. Pepper. I know I do!
Because of how much I love Dr. Pepper, I was ecstatic to try these Dr. Pepper wings by Delish. I’m not gonna lie, I was nervous that Dr. Pepper wouldn’t compliment wings well.
Man, was I wrong. With the perfect mix of ingredients, the Dr. Pepper adds a delicious tangy sweetness to your chicken wings. In fact, this may be my new favorite wing sauce!
If you’d like to try it yourself, you’ll first wanna gather your ingredients. Without one of these, the sauce just isn’t the same. Here’s what you’ll need to get started cooking these babies.
- 1 1/2 c. ketchup
- 1 c. Dr Pepper
- 2 tbsp. tomato paste
- 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp. onion powder
- 1/2 tsp. chili powder
- kosher salt, to taste
- freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 2 lb. chicken drumsticks
How It’s Made
Start by preheating your oven to 450 degrees F. Baking these wings gives you the best results.
Place a saucepan over medium heat, then combine your ketchup, Dr. Pepper, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce and onion powder. Once mixed together, let it thicken over the heat for a few minutes.
Season the sauce however you’d like, then season your chicken pieces. Coat your chicken in about 3/4 of the sauce. Prepare a baking sheet and lay the chicken in a single layer.
Bake your chicken for 30-35 minutes. Brush your chicken with the remaining sauce, then broil them for a few minutes until crisp.
