Dorito-Fried Pickles

Pickles seem to be the “it” ingredient right now. I’ve loved them for years, but now they’re being more widely used in all sorts of recipes.

One of my new favorites are fried pickles done differently. They aren’t how you usually have them, either. Nope, they’re coated in crunchy and delicious Doritos. What could be more delicious than that?

Wanna make them yourself? The recipe comes from TheJoshElkin on YouTube, so let’s get started on making these bad boys!

  • 2 cups crushed cool ranch Doritos
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp. baking powder
  • 1 tbsp.paprika
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. pepper
  • 2 pickles
  • oil for frying
  • ranch dressing for drizzling/dipping
  • chives for garnish

How It’s Made

Begin by combining the flour, baking powder, paprika, salt and pepper in a bowl. In a separate bowl, combine the buttermilk and the egg. Combine the two to make a batter.

Cut off one end of the pickle, then stick a skewer or chop stick inside, not punching it all the way through. Grab a knife and cut the knife at an angle, as you twist it, creating a spiral.

Take your pickles and coat it in the batter you made previously. Then, coat your pickles in the crushed Doritos completely. Get your oil up to 360 degrees, and fry the pickles for 3 minutes.

Drain the pickles on some paper towels, then drizzle on some ranch dressing and add some chives to finish it off!

If you chose to do this with a different flavor of Doritos, you can add different garnishes, like hot sauce, cilantro, cheese sauce and more!
