I prefer making things when it comes to gifts such as handwritten gift cards because I think the effort put forth is more sentimental. This DIY paper gift bag tutorial by Innova Crafts on YouTube is quick and easy that requires only 3 materials. Most likely you’ll have these supplies around your house just in case, last minute, you forgot to buy a bag at a store. This is a great alternative for those that do not want to buy a bag at the store too. Plus, it’s more impressive when someone realizes you made your own paper gift bag, and you can design it anyway. This DIY paper gift bag can be made using someone’s favorite color, type of ribbon, or you can draw and design all over it.
Materials:
- colored paper
- glue stick
- ribbon
Directions:
First, take the colored paper and fold it hamburger style, but not close shut. You just want the middle crease part so you can fold each side into a smaller fold to meet in the middle to have 3 different columns. Then, glue the flaps shut and continue to watch the tutorial by Innova Crafts for the rest of the folds.
Next, when you’re finished constructing the base of the paper gift bag, close the bag by making multiple back and forth folds. Pinch in the middle of the folds and use a ribbon to close the bag.
Overall, I think this paper gift bag is great if you’re giving a small gift. This is a quick and easy paper bag for lighter objects with a nice craft touch. I love the look of the folds on top with the ribbon wrapping it all up together. I’m going to make this in the future with my small gifts.
