My husband and I recently redecorated our bedroom and we did in a rustic farmhouse style so my old bed looked really outdated in this current trendy farmhouse style. The budget was already spent however and didn’t allow for the new purchase of anything else so I started searching Youtube for a DIY headboard idea and I found this excellent DIY Herringbone Headboard made from an old pallet. A recycled/ upcycled pallet headboard was definitely in our budget so we decided to devote our weekend to make it. We started by rounding up our materials.
Materials:
- One Pallet
- Hammer and Nails
- Drill
- Screws
- Paint
- Piece of Particle Board
Then you just sandwich the boards together and nail pallet boards to the surface in a herringbone pattern
Then you just sand it with an electric sander and paint your beautiful headboard
Then I was ready to install the headboard, using a drill and drywall screws that came with plastic anchor jackets. It was so easy and fun! I mounted them on the wall in the living room next to my display collection of wooden safari animals. I had moved the animals all around my apartment and now they really had a home where they could shine in all their glory. After I started arranging them I had another idea to put plants all around them so they would really look like they were in the jungle, then I had all these African Trade Beads hanging around and I made necklaces for all of them, that looked fabulous.
