Marble is my favorite substance on Earth and thanks to all these wonderful Bloggers and Youtubers we are learning so many cool interesting ways to make almost any surface look marble by creating a faux marble look with paint and even nail polish, yes, nail polish, who would have thought? I saw this DIY Marbleized Coffee Mug on Youtube and had to try it immediately.

All you need to get started on this awesome project is a bowl, a plastic bag to cover your bowl (unless it’s a junk bowl that doesn’t matter), nail polish (in varying colors), and coffee mugs (or any other item you wish to marbleize, like Mason Jars or glasses).

Then you just pour the nail polish onto the surface of the water.

Then you just dip your coffee mug in, (outside only) and roll it around to get the nail polish to adhere to the outside surface of the coffee mug.

Then just cover the mugs in Mod Podge decoupage glue and let dry overnight. This creates a tougher exterior and will keep the nail polish in place and stop any chipping that wants to occur.

These mugs I made turned out so beautiful, I gave a set to my daughter’s teacher and she chose to use them in her class as holders for pencils, pens, and rulers for her students who may have left their’s at home on any given day. The entire class is demanding she does a tutorial as a class project soon. I can’t tell you how much the making of this project enriched so many lives.
