The dollar store is basically heaven. Everything you need for super cheap, and a haven for crafters and DIYers like me and you? What’s not to love?
If you love the dollar store as much as I do, then do I have the treat for you. Here are 3 DIYs by YouTube channel Do It On A Dime that you’ll love.
Image Coasters
For this DIY, you’ll need dollar store coasters, image prints, mod podge, and a brush to paint on the mod podge.
First, get ahold of some image prints of your choice and cut them slightly smaller than your dollar store coasters. Mod podge the back of the image and stick it down.
Then, mod podge the top to seal it. Voila, a customized coaster that costs next to nothing! Check out the video below for more on how this is done.
Calendar Art
For this DIY, you’ll need a dollar store frame, a dollar store calendar, and some scissors. Simply cut out the art of your choice from your calendar and stick it in the frame.
This is an instant way to freshen up your decor, and it only costs a few dollars!
Plate Art / Personalized Plates
This one has to be my favorite DIY from the bunch. For this DIY, you’ll need dollar store ceramic plates, a permanent marker, an oven, and plate hangers (if you want to hang them).
Clean your plate with rubbing alcohol. Practice your design on paper and then draw on the plate. Let it fully dry for 24-48 hours. Now, put plates in a COOL OVEN and turn it on.
You want it to heat gradually. Heat oven to 400 degrees, baking for 30 minutes to 1 hour. Turn off the oven and let cool fully before removing.
Once the plate has cooled completely, you can either hang them up using plate hangers, or store them for future use. Keep in mind that if you eat off of these plates, oil-based permanent markers work best for longevity.
