For cool country yard decor that will help you keep warm this winter, look no further than this DIY fire pit made from an old beer keg.

My husband and his buddies are always looking for a new DIY project they can use at their hunting lease, so when I found this video on Youtube, Hubs was jumping for joy. He had about 3 empty kegs sitting in the garage and a circular saw, so he was good to go! He could not believe how simple it was and really was kicking himself for not thinking of this idea himself. He first marked the parts of the keg to be cut out, he just did that freehanded with a sharpie. Then he went in with a circular saw and cut the top out then cut a rectangle out on the side, near the bottom to make a door to the actual fire area.

Then he drilled 4 holes in the keg itself and 4 holes in the piece of metal he just cut away, added two hinges and made a door that you could have open or closed to regulate the airflow on your fire.

He fitted a nice handle on the keg but this is completely optional, the DIY Keg Fire Pit will function fine without it and you could use tongs to open and close the door.

Either way, you are good to go, your DIY Fire Pit is ready to go into the yard to warm your friends, roast marshmallows with the kids, or just sit around telling stories. Hubs and his buddies made a circle of chairs around the Fire Pit and sat round it telling hinting stories for hours. Hubs wants to make some to give away as Christmas presents to our neighbors! It’s a great idea because I know everyone will welcome this DIY Keg Fire Pit into their home.
