The Ultimate Red Velvet Cake
I’ve had quite a few red velvet cakes in my life. Some of them were amazing, and some of them… not so good. In fact, most of them aren’t that great.
But this recipe? We’ve found a winner! Not only is it deliciously decadent, but it tastes so rich and wholesome. You’ll basically want to eat the whole cake yourself!

For the cake, you will need:
- all-purpose flour
- cocoa powder
- baking soda
- salt
- sugar
- buttermilk, room temperature
- vegetable oil
- white vinegar
- eggs
- butter, room temperature
- red food coloring
- vanilla extract
For the frosting:
- heavy cream, cold
- cream cheese, room temperature
- powdered sugar
- vanilla extract
Making The Cake
In one bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. In another bowl, cream together butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time. Beat in the vegetable oil, followed by the vinegar and buttermilk.
