Chef John from Food Wishes is back at it again with this incredibly delicious recipe. It couldn’t be any easier to make, and once you taste it, you’ll be addicted. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!
To get started on making this deliciousness, you’ll want to gather the following ingredients.
- all-purpose flour
- granulated sugar
- baking soda
- unsalted butter
- high-quality cocoa powder
- water
- fine salt
- eggs
- sour cream
- vanilla extract
- good quality dark chocolate, chopped or broken into 1/2-inch pieces
- heavy cream
Making The Cake
To begin, preheat your oven to 350 F, and set aside your dark chocolate and your heavy cream for a ganache topping.
As with most cakes, you’ll want to start by mixing your dry ingredients. This includes your flour, sugar, and baking soda. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt your butter, cocoa powder, and salt.
Let all of this melt and stir together until smooth and steaming. Then, make a well in the center of your dry ingredients and add it in, one half at a time until fully combined. Now add your eggs one at a time.
Finally, add your vanilla extract and your sour cream. Once fully combined, pour into your prepared bundt pan and pop it in the oven for 50 minutes. Test with a skewer to make sure it’s fully cooked.
Let the cake cool in the pan for 15 minutes before inverting it on a rack to cool more. In the meantime, boil your heavy cream, ten dump it over your chopped up chocolate. Whisk until melted.
While it’s still liquified, drizzle and spread the ganache all over the cake however you’d like. Once that’s all dried and cooled, your cake is ready to serve!
Give this recipe a try and you’ll want this cake every chance you get. I know it’s one of my favorites for sure. Enjoy!
