Stunning Jitterbug

I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of the same old quilt blocks. I still love them for sure, but they tend to be used in the same ways over and over again.

This quilt takes classic blocks and uses them in a brand new way. When you look at the quilt from afar, you don’t even notice all of the classic blocks used to make the final product.

Instead, you see something truly beautiful and creative. Even though this quilt is incredibly stunning, it takes almost no effort to make. Just take it from Missouri Star Quilt Company!

In one of their mini tutorials (appropriately named “Quilt Snips”), they lay out how easy this really is to make. With all of that in mind, let’s get started.

You will need:

  • dark background fabric
  • light background fabric
  • coordinating accent fabric
  • pack of 5″ print squares

Once you’ve got all of your stuff gathered and together, this is how you’ll make the quilt top.

How It’s Done

There are two blocks that form together to create this jitterbug. Use 2 squares of background fabric, 1 square of accent fabric, and 1 square of print squares to make a 4 patch.

From here, add a strip of background fabric on the bottom. Add another on the left side, leaving one corner open for another one of the print squares.

That’s one block done. The second block is a half square triangle made from the light background fabric and the accent fabric. Repeat the dark background strip and corner process from the previous block.

Then that’s it, your second block is done! Sew these together repeatedly, and you’re done!

Watch the video down below to get a better idea of how this is done, then get to making your own.

Have fun!
