Customized Rug
A rug can really bring a room together. They’re stylish, functional, and usually pretty expensive. So instead of buying one, get all of the style from making your own rug!
YouTuber Megan Nielsen shows off how to make a rug yourself in her video tutorial, and it’s way simpler than you’d think.
If you have a sewing machine and some scraps of fabric, you can make a braided rug that goes along with any room. It’s completely customizable, and it’s so easy to do.
Customization
Depending on what room you want the rug to go in, you can not only choose what colors the rug is going to be, but what kind of fabric.
For instance, an absorbent, mildew-resistant fabric would be great for a bathroom rug. Something a bit thicker and more durable would be a great outdoor rug, and so on.
Gather 3 colors of fabric (or more, depending on what look you’re going for,) and tape them to a work surface. braid them together, and as you run out of fabric, tie more on each strand.
Continue braiding, then use a sewing machine to weave those braided bits into a rounded rug. Trust me, it sounds a lot harder than it actually is.
Another option is to sew up the rug into a different shape. With all of the fabric and shape options, the possibilities are truly endless.
