Crossing Paths

Squares are a godsend for quilters. There’s so much you can do with them, regardless of how large or how small. This “Crossing Paths” quilt is one of those things.

This adorable quilt by Jenny Doan at the Missouri Star Quilt Company utilizes the simple square in a way that truly brings it to life.

This quilt is super intricate, but also beyond easy to stitch together. It’s hard to believe, but as usual, Jenny makes something that looks so complicated, so so simple.

If you’d like to take a swing at making it yourself, here’s what you’ll need:

Construction

Believe it or not, the beginning of this block is sewing together a strip set… easy, right? Once sewn and pressed, you’ll do some folding and cutting, just like Jenny does.

After the cuts, you’ll sew them back together in a way that creates a step-like pattern in the final block. It’s gorgeous, and once arranges, it forms a beautiful kaleidoscope of colors.

If you do decide to stitch it up, you’ll be surprised as just how quickly and easily it comes together. I definitely was, especially considering what I thought it would entail.
