I love cooking anything in the crockpot, why I had never thought of making Salisbury Steak in the crockpot is beyond me. I saw a recipe for crockpot Salisbury Steak Casserole made with delicious egg noodles on Youtube and had to try it, after all, I love Salisbury Steak and I also love my crockpot so it was an obvious match made in Heaven for me. The recipe couldn’t be easier. I started gathering my ingredients as soon as I could.
Ingredients:
For the patties:
- 1 Pound Of Ground Beef
- 1/2 Cup Crushed Crackers (Ritz are good, satlines work too)
- 1 Egg
- 2 Tbsp. Milk
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1/2 tsp Dried Oregano
- Olive Oil (for browning patties)
Gravy:
- 1 can Cream Of Mushroom Soup (roasted garlic variety is good, but any will work)
- 2 packets Brown Gravy Mix
- 1 1/4 cups water
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- 2 cups sliced mushrooms
- 1 onion (sliced)
- A 6 Quart or larger Slow Cooker/ Crockpot
In a large bowl add the ground beef, crushed crackers, egg, milk, salt, pepper, oregano, and garlic powder. Mix together and form patties, but do not overmix, this should make 4 patties set aside.

In another large bowl whisk together the Cream Of Mushroom Soup, gravy packets, water, and thyme till smooth, set aside.
Cook your patties over a medium to high heat in butter or oil, no need to cook through, just sear them
Add 1/2 of the mushrooms and onions to the bottom of the slow cooker. Add the patties on top, then add the remaining mushrooms and onions on top of the patties. Pour over gravy mixture, then cover your crockpot and cook on low for 4.5 hours without opening the lid during cooking time if at all possible.
This Crockpot Salisbury Steak Recipe is a family favorite around our house, I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
