I love cooking anything in the crockpot, why I had never thought of baking potatoes in the crockpot is beyond me. I saw a recipe for crockpot baked potatoes on Youtube and had to try it, after all, I love baked potatoes and I also love my crockpot so it was an obvious match made in Heaven for me. The recipe couldn’t be easier, I just put the potatoes in the crockpot, then added salt pepper and butter. I didn’t bother to rub the potatoes with the butter, salt, and pepper mixture. I just plopped them all together and set the crockpot on low for 4 to 5 hours. The beauty of this Crockpot Baked Potatoe Recipe is that there is no wrong way to do it if you want to rub them with salt, pepper, and butter that is fine if you want to rub them with a steak seasoning such as Montreal Steak Seasoning, that is also fine. If you let your crockpot go for 6 or 7 hours they will still turn out delicious.

I am a bit of a baked potato expert and these were the best I ever tasted. When I would bake them on the oven in foil the skins would get thin and they slightly had a foil type of taste and when I baked them in the oven with bare foil free skins, the skins would get really tough and if I tried to do a butter rub on them, the butter would burn and smell up the house. This crockpot method yields a perfectly cooked tender skin that is really flavorful because whatever seasoning you choose cooks right into the potato and the meat of the is dense velvety and just perfect in every way. I recommend this dish very highly.
