Diamond Dance
I love working on quilts that end up completely different than anything I’ve ever sewn before, and this “Diamond Dance” quilt by Missouri Star Quilt Company fits that bill perfectly.
The quilt is comprised of hexagons and diamonds, and the finished product looks like nothing you’ve ever seen. It’s surprising, too, considering how easy it is to sew!
Jenny Doan is back at it again with another tutorial on how to do adorable quilts. She shows how easy a quilt like this can truly be, and it’s so beautiful too!
First, you’ll need to gather your supplies. Here’s what you’ll need to get started.
Making The Blocks
Making these blocks is super simple. If you have a half hexagon and a rhombus template, it makes things a whole lot easier. Even if you don’t have those templates, it’s still super simple.
You can use a piece of cardboard to create these templates, making each of your half hexagons and rhombus pieces identical.
Cut your fabrics like Jenny shows in her video tutorial, then sew them up to create stripes of hexagons and diamonds.
The diamonds often form half hexagons as well, so if you’d like, you could do this by cutting half hexagons into 3 triangles and sewing them back together after mixing and matching them.
I much prefer Jenny’s method. The rhombus template makes the diamonds much more crisp, and the hexagons hold up just as well.
