Dirty Microwaves
When you cook food in the microwave, especially if it’s uncovered, you know there are going to be splatters all over the place, and if they dry on, it’s not good.
Cleaning the microwave is something we all dread doing, but because of the guaranteed splatter, it’s definitely a necessity. Sure, we hate it, but a clean microwave is worth it.
Instead of getting in there and scrubbing with a heavy duty cleaner, try something a little different that works so much better. The TODAY Show has a video for this technique and it’s genius!
How It’s Done
In a microwave-safe bowl, add 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup vinegar. Place that bowl in the center of your microwave and cook on high for 5-10 minutes.
In the meantime, wipe the outside of your microwave with vinegar and a sponge. Once the timer goes off, carefully remove the bowl from the center, along with the carousel plate.
Take your sponge and wipe down the inside. It should come off easily, even the toughest splatters of food! Wipe down your carousel plate and place it back inside.
Then that’s it, you’ve got a clean microwave! Another tip is to add some lemon to that vinegar and water– it takes away that vinegar smell if that’s something that bothers you.
Regardless of if you include the lemon or not, one thing’s for sure: cleaning your microwave doesn’t have to be a chore you groan about. It can be super easy!
