If you’ve been following Chip & Joanna Gaines for a while, you know that in addition to their HGTV show Fixer Upper, the two have ventured on additional projects.
One of the most notable projects is their restaurant, Magnolia Table. Joanna also has a cookbook out. So it’s no surprise that the two know a thing or two about food.
A recipe of theirs is this chocolate chip bundt cake. It’s packed with a ton of chocolatey goodness and you’re gonna love it, guaranteed.
Here’s how to make it. What you’ll need is:
- 1 (15.25-oz.) package devil’s food cake mix
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 4 large eggs
- 1 (3.4-oz.) package vanilla instant pudding mix
- 1/2 cup plus 1 tbsp. vegetable oil, divided
- 1 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips
- 2 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa
- 2 tbsp. light corn syrup
- 2 tbsp. water
- 1 cup powdered sugar, plus more for serving
- Fresh strawberries for serving (optional)
- Vanilla ice cream for serving (optional)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Combine cake mix, yogurt, eggs, 1/2 cup warm water, pudding mix, and 1/2 cup oil in a large bowl. Beat electric mixer on low speed until just combined.
Increase mixer speed to medium, and beat until light and fluffy. Fold in chocolate chips. Pour mixture into lightly greased and floured bundt cake pan.
Bake in preheated oven until a wooden pick inserted in center of cake comes out clean (35-40 minutes). Remove cake from oven and cool in pan, 10 minutes. Transfer cake from pan to wire rack; cool completely.
Combine cocoa, 2 tbsp. water, corn syrup, and remaining 1 tbsp. oil in a medium saucepan. Cook on low, stirring constantly, until blended (1-2 minutes).
Gradually add powdered sugar, whisking constantly, until smooth. Drizzle finished glaze over cake. Sprinkle with powdered sugar, and serve with strawberries and vanilla ice cream if desired.
Whenever I make this cake, no one can ever get enough. I never have any leftovers and I always get asked for the recipe. It’s really that good.
Give it a try yourself and you’ll be thanking Chip & Jo just as much as I have been lately.
