Quilting Kitties
If you asked, most people wouldn’t be able to think of many things cuter than a cat. Humans are obsessed with cats, and for good reason.
In fact, cats have been a cultural phenomenon for thousands of years. From ancient Egypt to the modern U.S., so many things, from religion to comfort items, are centered around cats.
Instead of buying cat-themed merchandise, you can make an easy cat quilt to celebrate your love of kitties. It’s an adorable block pattern and it’s so easy to make!
Jenny Doan from Missouri Star Quilt Company makes this super cute “Pins & Paws” quilt in her video tutorial below. To get started, you’ll need the following materials:
Stitch The Block
Making the block is unbelievably easy. You’ll start with two fabrics for each block: a background fabric and a fabric you’ll use for the cat itself.
The entirety of the block, like most, is a square. It’s split into three sections that make it much easier for the quilter.
One square of background fabric take up the upper left corner, and the top right is the cat head: one half of this square is a rectangle, and the other is half a hexagon with two triangles forming the ears.
As for the bottom half, it’s simply a rectangle of the cat fabric with one of the corners cut off and replaced with the background fabric.
Once you stitch all of these together, your block is done! With some borders, batting, and backing fabric, your quilt is done!
