Cajun Cooking is so delicious and I have so many friends from Louisiana and they love their Cajun food! I had one friend telling me about Cajun Dirty Rice the other day and I was very intrigued, so I went searching Youtube to see if someone had made a video on this mythical dish and bingo, I found this fabulous recipe! It sounded so delicious, I immediately started getting my ingredients together.
Ingredients:
- 1 Pound Large Shrimp
- 1 Pound Ground Pork
- 3 Cups Chicken Stock
- 1 1/2 Cups Long Grain Rice (brown or white)
- 1/4 Cup Sliced Green Onions
- 1 Bay Leaf
- 1 TBSP Olive Oil
- 1 Chopped Medium Onion
- 1 Bell Pepper (green or red)
- 2 Ribs Of Celery
- 2 Cloves of Galic (minced)
- 1/2 tsp Paprika
- 1/2 tsp Oregano
- 1/2 tsp Dried Garlic
- 1/2 tsp Thyme
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1/2 tsp Pepper
Cook sausage, onion, bell pepper garlic, and spices in a skillet with a little bit of olive oil
Then add your rice and fry it in dry
Then add your Chicken Stock
Cook for about 13-15 minutes with a lid over low heat, then add shrimp and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes (till shrimp are done)
This is the quickest, easiest recipe you could even imagine. I invited my neighbor, a native Louisianan over to try some and as he walked in the front door and smelled the Cajun Dirty Rice he let out a Cajun wail and then began to hoop and holler! He said I’m Home! I’m Home! Over and over again and I had his plate waiting by the time he hit the kitchen. He loved it, and it made me feel so warm inside to see him dive in and enjoy this Cajun Dirty Rice.
