This quilt is my latest obsession. The buzzsaw quilt, also known as the tessellating star block, has a very versatile pattern. Believe it or not, it’s also really easy to make!
Laura from SewVeryEasy points out that you can make it in any size, using any type of fabric you want (including scraps), and for any occasion or theme.
Making the blocks is simple: just sew two right triangles together of two different fabrics, then cut them into 4 equal sized strips.
Sew these together as shown below, with one additional strip of fabric of just one of the patterns.
Then you can arrange the blocks into a buzzsaw design. You’ll use 4 of them for each buzzsaw.
After that, you can sew all of the blocks together, add a batting, backing, border, and any free motion stitching, and you’re done!
If you’re looking for a quilt pattern just as easy as it is versatile, look no further. Laura Coia shows us in her tutorial below exactly how to make this beautiful quilt.
