Any sort of stitch-up project is your best friend during the colder months. Not only does it give you something to do when you don’t want to go outside, but it gives you something useful when you’re done!

I’ve been knitting and crocheting since I was in middle school. I’ve made a wide variety of things, most notably, hats. Making your own hat is so satisfying, and the slouchy beanie has always been a favorite.

If you’ve never knit or crocheted before, no need to worry. You can still easily make this project.

YouTuber Melanie Ham created an awesome tutorial for making this stylish little hat, and even included a free pattern on her website! You can get that by clicking here.

If you need a visual for the crocheting terms I use below, be sure to watch Melanie’s video. It’s really easy to mimic once you see it!

You’re gonna start with a slip stitch, then chain 4. Slip stitch the first chain, pull it through, and chain two. Then you’ll want to do 12 half double crochets inside the circle you created.

Slip stitch, and continue the pattern as Melanie describes, increasing your half double crochets to make the beanie larger as you go. It’s really that simple!

Watch the video below and check out the pattern to get started on yours! They make great gifts during this season, and I can’t wait to finish some more.
