I’m always on the lookout for easy and unique quilt patterns. I love quilting, but I’m super impatient, so I want it to be easy and quick!

Here’s a quilt that fits all of that criteria. It’s called the “Step Ladder” quilt and it’s super easy to make, as you will see in Jordan Fabrics’ tutorial. My kind of quilt, for sure!

To make it, first lay out 24″ pieces ahead of time, in the order you want them to go. Use 25 of these strips and cut 50 pieces at 2-1/2″ for your accent pieces.

For your “lights” or light colored pieces, cut 8″, 6-1/2″, and 5″ strips. Clamp all of your pieces together so they don’t get out of order.

Start by sewing one of the light accent pieces (alternating the sizes) and dark accent pieces (2-1/2″) onto the long strip at the end of the 24″ strip. Do this with all of your 24″ pieces.

After you do one side, do the same thing to the other side. Then sew each strip together.

To make things even easier, you can buy something called jelly rolls, which she uses in the video to make coordinating colors for the quilt quick and easy.

I absolutely love the patriotic theme she went for here. What could be a better quilt for the 4th of July?

I’m gonna let you watch what she does. It’s much easier to understand when you can see Jordan Fabric‘s excellent step by step tutorial. I hope you enjoy making one of these as much as I did!
