Out Of Time

Jenny Doan from Missouri Star Quilt Company is back with another video tutorial, this time telling a hilarious story of when she made this quilt in a sew-off.

Long story short, Jenny lost because she was out of time. She hadn’t finished the quilt in time, so she decided to jokingly name it “out of time.”

Considering there are hourglasses in the quilt, it’s not a bad name for the quilt, don’t you think?

Now, you may not be able to speed quilt this like Jenny tried to, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t an easy quilt to make. In fact, it’s super easy.

Here’s what you’ll need to get started:

With a print square and a background square, sew them right sides together, all the way around. Cut this diagonally both directions. Press them like Jenny shows.

Create an hourglass from these half square triangles. After those are sewn, you’ll snowball the print corners with background fabric, and snowball the background corners with a different fabric.

Then that’s it… that’s your block! Sew these together, add some borders, some batting, and some backing fabric, and you’re all done!

Jenny may have run out of time, but this is still one of her best creations. What a gorgeous quilt!

Get started on your own, and happy quilting!
