With all of the winter spirit going around lately, it makes me miss the sunshine and the flowers just a little bit. I decided to let all of that angst out in a quilt, appropriately named “Basket of Blooms.”

This quilt, by Jenny Doan at Missouri Star Quilt Company, is very easy to put together, even though the final product is beyond intricate.

Here’s what you’ll need to get it done:

I found it to be easiest to separate the finished block into 5 separate pieces: 4 identical corner blocks, and a center sashing with a cornerstone.

Each corner block is exactly the same, and really easy to make. All it is are some strips, some triangles, and some half square triangles.

Once you sew it up, it ends up looking a little bit like an unfinished arrow pointing inward toward the cornerstone. Depending on the fabrics you choose, it really can resemble a flower blooming!

Whether you miss spring and summer or just are in the mood for something different, this will fulfill your sewing cravings and then some.

Watch Jenny stitch up these blocks down in the video below. If you follow her step-by-step instructions, it really couldn’t be any easier to get this quilt finished!
