Imagine this. You’re wearing your favorite pair of pants, you bend over to pick something up, and you hear that all-too quiet yet ear splitting rip.

It’s happened to all of us. So what now? How will you mend this tear and get your favorite pants back?

Here’s how.

First, you need a needle and thread. I’d suggest getting thread that matches the garment as much as possible.

Start from the underside of the material you’re working with, about half an inch below where the tear starts.

Pick up the smallest amount of fabric possible and sew back and forth from one side to the other, over and under. Keep doing this until you reach the end of the tear.

As you get near the end, sew about half an inch to a quarter inch away from it, just like you did in the beginning.

Flip to the underside, tie your knot, and grab your knot. Pull it taut until the seem in the front pushes together, leaving the stitching undetectable.

That’s it, your torn garment is all fixed! Watch JWo Designs‘ tutorial below if you’d like a visual, and happy mending!
