Whether it’s cake, pie, ice cream, or something else entirely, dessert is the most exciting meal there is, but when it comes to dessert, there’s always something that makes it better.

Whipped cream.

If you’re like me, you love store-bought whip, but you also know that it has a ton of random chemicals and preservatives that you might not want with every dessert.

Plus, if you’ve ever had fresh homemade whipped cream, you know how much better it tastes.

With just a few ingredients, you can make the best whipped cream you’ve ever had. It really makes all the difference when it comes to things like waffles and pie, where you can really taste it.

But making it from scratch takes a ton of time, effort, and dishes, right? Wrong.

If you don’t have a hand mixer (or just don’t want to get it dirty,) would you believe me if I told you all you need to make picture-perfect whipped cream is a mason jar?

I’m 100% serious. Put a one-quart mason jar in the fridge to chill it. Once chilled, combine 1/2 cup chilled heavy cream with 2 tablespoons powdered sugar and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract.

Close the jar and shake vigorously until thickened, anywhere from 3 to 5 minutes. This is a little bit of a workout, but it’s so worth it. Don’t shake more unless you want butter.

Spoon the whipped cream anywhere you’d like it. It makes all the difference on any dish, and it’s worth every second of effort.

Try it yourself and see!
