Making your own ice cream doesn’t need to be hard. No ice cream machines, no salt and ice, no recipes with a million ingredients…
Instead, all you need is a mason jar. Yup, it’s really that simple. In addition to some heavy cream, flavoring, and sweetener, all you need is a little man power, and your ice cream will be done in no time.
My favorite flavor of all time has always been butter pecan. I never thought I could make my own with a mason jar, but I’m glad to report I was wrong.

In addition to a mason jar, here’s what you’ll need to make your own:
- raw pecans, roughly chopped
- unsalted butter
- heavy cream
- vanilla extract
- imitation butter flavoring
- liquid stevia
- powdered erythritol

Now on to making the ice cream. Start by melting your butter in a pan, then chop your pecans to your liking. Toast the pecans in the butter.
Once the pecans have cooled completely, add them to your large mason jar, along with your heavy cream, vanilla, butter flavoring, stevia and erythritol.
Now, vigorously shake this baby up until it solidifies, almost like whipped cream! Once you’ve shaken it to that point, put it in the freezer.
3 hours later, your butter pecan ice cream should be all ready to go. You can eat it straight out of the jar if you’d like. I know I do.
