On a super hot day, a tall cold glass of sweet tea is what I need. It’s always delicious, always refreshing, and super simple to make.
Recently I stumbled upon a video about sweet tea that caught my eye. Instead of regular ol’ sweet tea, it was 5 revamped recipes that I knew I needed to try.
The Domestic Geek is back at it again with one of her recipe videos, and once I tried these, I was downright addicted. I know you will be too.
Here’s how to make them.
Orange Rosemary Iced Tea
- 6 orange pekoe tea bags
- 8 cups boiling water
- ¼ cup honey
- 1 sprig fresh rosemary
- 1 large orange, zested and juiced
Blackberry Mint
- 6 green tea bags
- 8 cups boiling water 3-4 mint leaves
- 1 lb blackberries
- ¼ cup sugar
Strawberry Jalapeño Iced Tea
- 6 rooibos tea bags
- 8 cups boiling water
- ¼ cup sugar or honey
- ½ jalapeño, seeded and sliced
- 1 lb strawberries, sliced
Peach Basil Iced Tea
- 6 white tea bags
- 8 cups boiling water
- ¼ cup sugar
- 4-6 basil leaves
- 2 ripe peaches, sliced
Pomegranate Iced Tea
- 6 hibiscus tea bags
- 8 cups boiling water
- ¼ cup honey
- 1 cup pomegranate juice
- ¼ cup pomegranate arils
The majority of these recipes are prepared in extremely similar ways. First, begin by steeping your tea in your boiling water in a heatproof dish.
For each tea, steep for about 5 minutes, then add any herbs, zests, or sweeteners– basically anything you would want to dissolve or “cook” a bit. For Sara Lynn’s recommendations, watch her video below.
Once it cools substantially, add in the rest of your ingredients, or things you want to infuse that are fresh, such as your fruit and/or juices. Pour over a glass of ice and your tea is ready!
Which ones will you be trying this summer?
