The Ultimate Lemon Bar
Lemon bars are my dad’s favorite dessert, so needless to say, I ate them a lot growing up. I’ve tried recipes from friends, from family, from coworkers and so much more. I can’t get enough!
There was always something so addicting about them: the tangy filling, the buttery crust, and the powdered sugar dusted on top… what’s not to love?
Recently, I stumbled upon a recipe by The Stay At Home Chef that makes lemon bars even better: it’s quick, it’s easy, and it’s very few ingredients, not including the powdered sugar.
To make these deliciously addictive lemon bars, you only need 5 ingredients, so gather the following, then let’s get started.
You will need:
- sugar
- salted butter
- all-purpose flour
- large eggs
- lemon juice

Making The Bars
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
To make these scrumptious lemon bars, you’ll need to start with the shortbread crust. For this, there are only 3 ingredients: butter, sugar, and flour.
Mix your dough together with a pastry cutter to create the perfect shortbread crust. Line a 9×9 baking pan with parchment paper, then press this dough into the pan. Bake this for 15 minutes.
Five minutes before the crust is done baking, mix together more sugar and flour. Whisk in your eggs and lemon juice.
Now, gently and slowly pour the lemon mixture over the baked crust and return to the oven and bake until the lemon layer is set, about 40-50 minutes.
Let this cool completely, then top with whatever toppings you’d like, such as powdered sugar. With that, you’re ready to eat! I love refrigerating these before I eat them. I think they’re best served cold.
