Back-to-school season is almost here. Some are dreading it, some are excited, and some are indifferent, but there’s one thing we can agree on…
If you’re headed to college, decorating your dorm room is going to be a total blast.
We also can agree that it can get kind of expensive to decorate. That’s where the dollar store and Drew from Lone Fox comes in. Time to do some cheap DIYs to get your room looking exactly how you want!
Here are 5 dollar store DIYs to get you started.
Wooden Moon Organizer
Using a dollar store cutting board, some nails, and some string, make whatever design you’d like in the center of the board. Then, add some nails on the bottom to hold jewelry!
To get a little bit more in-depth on how to do the nail string art, you can check out our post on that by clicking here.
Wicker String Lights
With some cheap string lights, wicker balls, and spray paint (which is optional, of course), you can make super cute and unique wicker string lights.
Spray paint the wicker balls first if you want them a different color. From there, all you need to do is slide the string lights into the wicker balls and hot glue them in place. Easy, right?
Memory Mobile
This may be the easiest DIY on the list. Drew from Lone Fox uses a thin metal wok to tie strings and clothes pins and then hangs the whole thing up.
Add your photos, and there you have it. A memory mobile!
Geometric Cork Decals
There are usually all sorts of cork things sold at the dollar store. Find one, cut them up into whatever shape(s) you like, and hang them on the wall.
You can paint them, hang things on them, or do something else entirely. It adds a ton of personality and it’s super easy to do!
Urban Trash Bin
This one is super easy. Take a trash can from the dollar store, and use some cheap faux-leather fabric to add some “handles” to it. Your trash can looks super expensive with this hack!
