Red lips: there’s something so gorgeous and classic about them. Every iconic woman I can think of has rocked a red lip, and they never go out of style.
With that in mind, a red lip is a bold statement. When you wear one, everyone is going to be looking at your lips, which is why you want to make sure the rest of your face is balanced.
By balanced, I mean you don’t want your face to be overpowered by too much bold makeup. You want the red lip to compliment your features, not make you look like a clown.
There are hundreds of ways to wear a red lip, and depending on the time of year, a super bold eye with the lip works. For day to day, however, it’s a little more limited.
These 3 looks by KathleenLights let you wear your red lip right: bold, but balanced.
Look # 1: Bold Teal Liner
Kathleen uses one neutral eyeshadow all over her eyes and pairs it with a teal winged eyeliner for a cool contrast to the red. If you’d like it a bit more natural, you can stick with black or brown instead.
The bottom lash line matches the top, and she finishes it off with a matte red lip, a ton of mascara, and some false eyelashes.
Look # 2: Smoky Wing
For this smoky liner, Kathleen sticks with the same matte red lip. For the eyes, she uses a piece of tape to create a crisp line. From there, she layers different browns and finally a black to create the wing.
She blends these together to make them smokey, adds the same smokiness to the bottom, a few individual lashes up top, and look #2 is done!
Look #3: Glossy & Glowing
This look is by far the most simple. Kathleen tops her red lip with a shiny lip gloss for some high-impact shine. Her eyes are a monochromatic bronze eye using three eyeshadows.
Add a little bit of the shadow on the bottom, some eyeliner on the tightline and waterline, some mascara, and it’s time for the skin.
The main focus of this look is the glowing skin. She uses a dewy foundation, some super-glamorous highlighter, and other products with a sheen to get her skin glowing.
