Bralettes are a must during the spring and summer. Not only are they ultra cute and ultra comfy, but they’re a lot lighter than traditional bras, making them great for the sweaty hot months.

Because of their resurgence in popularity, especially in editorial fashion, they can run a little expensive to buy. Luckily, there’s a solution. Make your own!

Canadian YouTubers TheSorryGirls show us how it’s done in one of their DIY video tutorials, and I can’t thank them enough for it. I wear these bralettes all the time, and they’re so easy to make.

Once you make your own, you’ll be wearing them under dresses, t-shirts, and so much more. Let’s get started on making them, shall we?

There are two different bralette styles they go over in their tutorial: a halter lace bralette, and a more geometric strappy bralette. Both are beautiful, but we’re going to stick with making the lacy one today.

If you’d like to make the strappy bralette, you can download TheSorryGirl’s template by clicking here.

Now on to the lacy one!

How It’s Made

First thing’s first: grab the lace halter bralette template by clicking here. You can’t make it perfect without this.

Now it’s time to gather your supplies. You can sew this by hand if you like, or with a sewing machine. Either one works here.

With the lace bralette, you’re going to grab not only your lace fabric, but some optional nude fabric that will aid in the opacity of the bralette, allowing you to wear it without anything showing through.

Now, use the template to cut out your fabric(s). Once all of those are cut out, you can start to do your sewing. It’s pretty self explanatory, but it’s easier to see visually rather than reading it.
